The latest workshop of the John von Neumann University Hydrogen Technology Knowledge Centre was held in a style-changing format on 17 April 2024, making the first TEDx John von Neumann University Salon on hydrogen the first event of the International Week.
The English-language panel discussion series was entitled 'H2 Evolution: Hungary's Hydrogen Journey & Global Tech Frontiers', and according to the topic, the new developments in hydrogen technology were discussed in two sessions, following a welcome address by Dr habil Tamás Fülöp, Rector of the John von Neumann University.
In the first part, an overview of the domestic energy sector was given. Péter Sőrés, Head of Business Development of MVM Zrt., Ákos Kovács, Environmental Protection Officer of the Municipality of Kecskemét, Áron Koronka, Applications Engineer of Ganzair Kompresszortechnika Kft., and László Lovas, Technologist of the Maintenance and Development Group of MFGT, presented the latest trends, limitations and advances in energy. All the speakers outlined a well-constructed plan for the future of hydrogen energy.
Among the participants of the second session were Prof. Lim Hankwon, Head of the Carbon Neutrality Demonstration and Research Centre, UNIST Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, and Jur Immink, Business Development Director of Resato High Pressure Technologies, who came from the Netherlands to the event. Achilles Habenczius, Head of the Engineering Team at Ganzair Kompresszortechnika Ltd., and Dr. Krisztián Kun, Head of the NJE Vehicle Technology Research Group, were also on the panel. The session focused on regional differences and current issues in the fields of activity.
The event ended with a hydrogen vehicle demonstration in the lobby, where participants were able to see a Toyota Mirai and the Neumann H2, unveiled at COP28.
According to Dávid Kis, Director of the Hydrogen Technology Knowledge Centre, the success of the event is best demonstrated by the packed auditorium. He said that it proved that there is a demand for science-promoting events, and that the Knowledge Centre sees this as its own mission.
